Changes to Expect During this Year’s Open Enrollment Period

Open enrollment is now underway. From now until December 7, Medicare enrollees can change plans, with the new plan taking effect on January 1, 2026.

Finding the right Medicare plan for you can seem overwhelming, especially when healthcare coverage under Medicare plans changes every year.

However, by understanding what to expect and seeking assistance from the Piedmont Advantage Medicare Team, powered by Senior Health Medicare, you can be better prepared for this Open Enrollment Period.

According to AARP, here are a couple of changes to be aware of during Medicare open enrollment:

The limit on out-of-pocket payments for prescription drug plans is rising from $2,000 to $2,100. This includes plans combined with Medicare and drug coverage through Medicare Advantage. This increase reflects the annual percentage rise in average spending for covered Part D drugs in 2024.

The maximum Part D deductible is also rising from $590 to $615.

If you are enrolled in the Medicare Part D Prescription Payment Plan, your participation will automatically renew for 2026 unless you opt out or change to a new plan.

Since Medicare plan costs and benefits can change from year to year, it’s essential to review your options carefully to select the right plan for you during open enrollment. Navigating Medicare and Open Enrollment doesn’t have to be overwhelming, and PACU’s Medicare Services Team, powered by Senior Health Medicare*, is here to simplify it and guide you through every step.
